Why do the Muslims I know seem to be so mean?

They just go off on me... a lot. I don't get what I do to make them so angry. I know Islam teaches love and patience. (The Muslims I know have told me that.) What confuses me is they seem to be so devout and they don't practice what they preach. Atleast not to the people who ask questions about Islam and whether it's true or not. (me lol but I'm curious.)
