I've bought a lovely 1924 Elkhart tenor trombone (as good as a King 2B, but for a tenth of the price), and love playing it, but most of the lacquer on the outer slide, and on the places where you hold the horn has worn away. Do I need to get the horn overhauled? What precautions should I take when playing to prevent causing damage to the instrument? I don't want to cause it any harm.... it's the nicest trombone I've ever played!
