Can i exclude the part about being a veteran when applying for financial aid?

i am a veteran of the US army but the problem is that i received a chapter 14 discharge which means misconduct, fortunetly i did NOT receive a dishonorable discharge, i received a general (under honorable conditions) type of discharge because it was a very minor misconduct, anyway i am trying to go to college and when aplying for financial aid it asks if i a m a veteran which i am but i worry that if i say i am then they will search my military history and see my misconduct dischage and consequently affect how much money i receive, or if i receive any financial aid at all, what should i do? i'll give 10 points for best answer i swear
